Find Joy and Connection: Simple Things Your Family Can Do To Support Israel

joy and connection graphic

While our hearts continue to ache over events in Israel, PJ Library is working to help families around the world discuss and process the crisis with children. We’ve been curating all kinds of resources on our Israel Hub. In addition, we know that many of our subscriber families and their friends are looking for tangible actions to take to support and feel connected to the greater Jewish community. Here are some simple suggestions:

Learn about Israel

Connect with the people and culture of Israel through videos, books, and PJ Library’s Israel fact sheets.

Give locally

While there are many ways to do tzedakah, one common practice is giving money. Give directly to local efforts or visit the Jewish Federation of North America’s website to explore other ways to donate.

Make a card

Grab the crayons, markers, and tape and send a message of support to someone. Follow PJ Library on social media or connect with your local PJ Library community to learn more about card-making programs and drop offs.

You can also participate in “Little Hands, Big Hearts” a campaign to send messages of hope from PJ Library kids to Israeli children. Please ask your child to write a message or draw a picture to send to a child in Israel, and then mail your card to our PJ Library office in New York:

Say a blessing

The Shabbat Project created a special blessing to say after candle lighting on Friday, November 3rd, 2023. While there are still captives held hostage, consider adding this special blessing to your Friday night ritual.
