OUR CONGREGATION WAS FOUNDED by the Spanish-Portuguese Jews who emigrated to the Virgin Islands in June of 1796. We worship in a magnificent Synagogue building, built in 1833 in the Spanish-Portuguese style. Synagogue building is the oldest in continuous use under the American flag and the second oldest in the western hemisphere.
Our congregation today belongs to the Union for Reform Judaism, though we try to meet the needs of Jews from all backgrounds. We have an active membership and a small religious and Hebrew School. We dedicate ourselves to reaching out to all the Jewish children in the Virgin Islands regardless of their Synagogue affiliation.
