Roland lives a quiet, somewhat lonely life in the forest – until he finds Milton. Milton may be a pine cone, but he’s excellent company, and Roland is happier than he’s ever been – until he sees a “Lost” sign attached to a tree trunk. It turns out that Milton was someone else’s best friend before he was Roland’s. What should Roland do? This sweet story highlights the Jewish value of hashavat aveidah (Hebrew for “returning lost objects”) – and the importance of making new friends.
