RSJ Engagement Grants In New York and New Jersey

The Harold Grinspoon Foundation, in partnership with the Genesis Philanthropy Group, is excited to announce the award of 5 Engagement Grants specifically aimed to enrich engagement opportunities for Russian-speaking, Jewish (RSJ) families in New York and New Jersey.

The selected grantees, who have previously demonstrated success in engaging the RSJ community, will be part of a PJ Library community of practice, offering ongoing peer support and collective learning.
 

Mishpucha Family Camping, New York, NY 
Mishpucha offers a unique approach to engaging RSJ families in Jewish history and traditions through fun, outings, and weekend getaways that encourage social connections. \This grant will support large scale programs to reach unaffiliated families in New York and New Jersey. Events will include an Overnight Camp-in at the Liberty Science Center, as well as programs at the Tenafly Nature Center and the Grounds for Sculpture Park.

KinderKlub, Queens, NY
Spearheaded by early childhood educator, Jane Tuv, the initiative offers ongoing programs for new parents in Forest Hills, Queens. Through two weekly classes for babies and toddlers with their parents, children learn through open play, while parents engage in candid discussions on child upbringing and maintaining Jewish traditions in the home.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) – New York, NY
Through a series of 5 large-scale events, NYFT aims to develop intergenerational programs for RSJ families that foster community and are rich in Jewish content. Held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan, programs will include Klezmer concerts for families, arts workshops, and theater performances infused with Russian Jewish heritage.

Marks JCH, Bensonhurt Brooklyn
Growing their offerings for families, the Marks JCH will open the neighborhood’s first Tot Shabbat class. The weekly classes will offer a welcoming, playful experience for kids under 5 and their care givers. In addition to the program, Marks JCH will host a series of workshops for parents on raising Jewish children.

Kings Bay Y, Rockaway Beach, New York
Kings Bay Y is looking to revitalize the Jewish community in Rockaway Beach that has been recovering from Hurricane Sandy. Through this grant, they will partner with West End Temple to develop a series of holiday-based events that resonate with RSJ families.
