Election Day and Tikkun Olam

Election day is here. Candidates have been debating. Advertisements have been trying to persuade us. Now it's time to vote. But what are Elections really about?

Elections are about tikkun olam, repairing the world, in whatever ways we can. Each candidate in the Tuesday election is aiming to repair the world in one way or another.

As we head into the polling booths, it's important to ask your children what it is that they care about. Through family discussions (and the PJ library books below!), you can teach your children about the importance of the presidential elections, voting, and being informed about political issues.

ECONOMIC ISSUES
Why are politicians debating economic issues? In what ways do we help those that are less fortunate? Why do we feed the hungry?

These PJ library books might help to open the family discourse up to difficult topics surrounding tikkun olam, like the economy, the deficit, or the upcoming election.
