Autumn in North America is a colorful time. So, while the outdoors may be a bit too brisk for play some days, it can still be fun to bring the colorful outdoors inside. To celebrate an autumn Shabbat, consider these fun fall activities:
DECORATE A FALL TABLE — As Kveller.com writer Molly Tolsky tells us, “There are plenty of great craft projects that are an easy way to bring the spirit of the season into your home.” One of the more colorful ideas she dug up is the “Luminous Leaf Lantern” from Twig and Toadstool.
COOK WITH PUMPKIN — For a wonderful fall Shabbat treat, try cooking with a bright, orange pumpkin. MyJewishLearning.com writer Leah Koenig offers a great Pumpkin Challah recipe.
TRY A LEAF RUBBING — Nothing symbolizes autumn in North America like colorful leaves. Make an impression of their form to color and decorate by doing an old-fashioned leaf rubbing.
LEARN ABOUT RED POMEGRANATES — What does Israel look like this time of year? The blog, Creative Jewish Mom tells us. The author says, “No pumpkins around here, but red pomegranates, yes indeed!” Buy a colorful pomegranate and compare its bright colors to those found here in the U.S.
