Why We Chose This Book: My Body Can

My Body Can Book Cover

It’s impossible to read My Body Can and not feel inspired to stop and think about all of the interesting and different things that bodies can do in different ways.

In lively rhyme and bright illustrations, a diverse group of seven children celebrate the yearly cycle of Jewish holidays and all sorts of physical and sensory experiences, from spinning like a dreidel on Hanukkah to smelling the sweet and spicy aroma of hamantaschen being baked for Purim. The holidays are not named, prompting young readers to look for clues in the artwork and actions.

The PJ Library Book Selection Committee is delighted to share My Body Can with families. This exuberant celebration of the many ways that readers and families use their bodies and senses to enjoy Jewish milestones will undoubtedly move readers to be proud of all the special things their own bodies can do!
