Here’s an easy and delicious treat — and every ingredient comes from trees! (If nuts are a no-no in your house, seeds from tall, tree-like sunflowers make a fine substitute)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond butter (or sunflower-seed butter)
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup carob powder
  • ½ cup chopped cashews (or sunflower seeds)
  • 1/3 cup dried coconut (optional)

Preparation

  1. Blend the almond butter and the maple syrup until smooth.
  2. Gradually stir in the carob powder, then the chopped cashews.
  3. Roll the batter into balls between your palms (about a tablespoon of batter each), then dip the balls into a shallow bowl of coconut flakes.
  4. Let the treats firm up in the fridge for about 20 minutes, then enjoy!
