PJ Library Books Honored in 2017 Sydney Taylor Book Awards

Each year the Association of Jewish Libraries presents the Sydney Taylor Book Award to "outstanding books for children and teens that authentically portray the Jewish experience.” The PJ Library Book Selection Committee takes pride in curating selections for our families and readers that represent the best of Jewish children's literature.

Several PJ Library titles were among this year's Sydney Taylor Book Awards winners and notable mentions.

I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Her Mark by Debbie Levy won the Gold Medal in the younger readers category. Fascinating: The Life of Leonard Nimoy by Richard Michelson and A Hat for Mrs. Goldman by Michelle Edwards, both won silver medals in the younger readers categories. I Dissent also won a National Jewish Book Award in the Children's Literature category.

PJ Library selections, Chicken Soup, Chicken Soup by Pamela Mayer and Gabriel's Horn by Eric Kimmel were honored as Notable Books for younger readers. Author Barbara Bietz's book, The Sundown Kid: A Southwestern Shabbat was also listed. The Bicycle Spy, an upcoming PJ Our Way title, was named a notable book for older readers.
