
There are four traditional mitzvot, or commandments, that appear at the end of the biblical Book of Esther and guide us through the holiday of Purim. One of these is matanot la’evyonim, or giving to those in need. Many families meet this obligation during Purim by giving money to causes they care about (a form of tzedakah or giving), but there are other ways to fulfill this mitzvah — and spread some joy as well.
