PJ Library Books Can Fulfill School Reading Requirements

Accelerated Reader, Scholastic Reading Counts, Sylvan Learning Book Adventure, Reading Rewards, QuizWik, PJ Library: What do these programs have in common? Reading, of course! The monthly books from PJ Library have different meanings for every family, including spending time together, encouraging early literacy, reinforcing Jewish values, and bringing new Jewish questions into your home. A new question has recently come up: Can PJ Library books fulfill my child’s public or private school reading requirement?

Reading quiz programs have developed as a way for schools to quickly and easily encourage students to develop age-appropriate reading skills without limiting the choice of books available. These programs allow children to choose books that appeal to them, and test reading comprehension with short quizzes of about 5-10 questions.

Unsurprisingly, PJ Library books have already been identified by programs such as Accelerated Reader as a great way to encourage children to read. If your child’s school uses the Accelerated Reader program it is simple to find an updated list of books from PJ Library that will fulfill your child’s reading requirement. Simply go to http://www.arbookfind.com/advanced.aspx, and under “Additional Criteria” first select “Recommended Reading,” and then in the box beneath it select “PJ Library,” as pictured in the screenshot below.

The PJ Library staff appreciates continued feedback from parents and children, and we continue to be delighted by the many ways that PJ has become a part of your family!
