The value of re'ut, friendship, is aptly expressed in the Book of Ecclesiastes: Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For should they fall, one can raise the other; but woe to the one who falls and has no companion to raise that person up! (4:9-10)
The value of Dibbuk Haverim, attachment to friends, is expressed when we respect friends by listening, appreciating, honoring, keeping secrets. Whenever we treat our friends as we wish to be treated we honor the value of Dibbuk Haverim.
