Something magical happens when parents sit down together to read with their children. PJ LIBRARY shares Jewish stories that gives your family the opportunity to talk together about values and traditions that will help children form strong, positive identities. Free, high quality children's books with Jewish themes are sent to 3000 children throughout San Diego County every month from the national program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, locally funded by Jewish Federation of San Diego County, Viterbi Family Foundation, Leichtag Foundation, and Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center. Families with children ages 6 months through 8 years, are welcome and encouraged to sign up at www.pjlibrary.org.
We also offer programs for your family to enjoy while making and meeting new friends! PJ LIBRARY is an integral component of San Diego’s nationally acclaimed SHALOM BABY which welcomes new babies and their families to the Jewish community. Together, SHALOM BABY and PJ LIBRARY offer activities, events, classes, and holiday celebrations sponsored by Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, local synagogues, preschools and religious and day schools. LITTLE MENSCHES, “making the world better one mitzvah at a time”, an award winning program for children 4-8, sponsors a monthly activity which offers opportunities for them to give back to their community.
