AS THANKSGIVING APPROACHES, PJ Library has many things for which to be grateful. We are thankful for the communications we receive from the many families enjoying PJ books each month. We are glad when we read parent testimonials explaining what PJ library books mean to them, and we are always thankful to see comments on our Facebook page. Above all, we give thanks for the children in our lives who brighten our days!
In addition to direct correspondence, children and families connect with PJ Library through a number of our programs. For example:
PJ GOES TO CAMP APPLICANTS
One goal of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) is to increase youth attendance at Jewish camps by providing grants that help offset the cost of camp tuition. By receiving so many applications from interested families, we are able to reach our goal. Thanks to all who have applied!
If you have yet to apply, you can submit your application through One Happy Camper, or visit the PJ Goes to Camp webpage for more information.
MAKE-A-POSTER SUBMISSIONS
This year marked the beginning of a brand new HGF program, Voices & Visions. This is a project designed to “elicit the power of art to communicate great Jewish ideas.”
This Thanksgiving, we give special thanks to all the contestants (ages 7–12) who submitted poster designs to the Make-a-Poster Contest this year.
TZEDAKAH LEARNING
Along with the PJ Library books sent out in November was a cardboard tzedakah box. We encouraged children to think about tzedakah and submit letters, drawings, and photographs with their ideas about tzedakah.
We would like to thank those who shared their creative designs and thoughts. See some of our favorites in the slideshow below.
