Set Goals for the New Year With a Sticky Note Wall

A wall covered in sticky notes

Yom Kippur is a wonderful opportunity to set goals and think about how to approach challenges in the coming year. Here is an activity that challenges us to be our best selves — to be kind to our family, to encourage others and ourselves, and to set goals for the new year.

No one likes chores, but everyone likes gift certificates. Create a sticky-note wall for your family, and help each other out with sticky-note “gift certificates.”

This Activity Works With These Books

Big Bad Wolf's Yom Kippur book cover
Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse book cover
Max and the Not-So-Perfect Apology book cover

Supplies

  • Sticky notes
  • Pens, pencils, and crayons

Directions

  1. Have everyone write small chores (“take out garbage” or “feed dog”) on sticky notes and place them on the fridge.
  2. The next time someone can lend a hand to help out, they can choose a sticky note, and the job will get done — with a smile!
  3. When someone helps you with a chore, pay it forward by grabbing a new sticky note.
