Rick Recht Kicks Off Tour, Celebrates JRR Success

Rick Recht Kicks Off Concert SeriesPJ MUSICIAN RICK RECHT has a lot to sing about. As 2011 came to a close, the Jewish singer/songwriter kicked off a national PJ Library concert tour. He also celebrated the one-year anniversary of Jewish Rock Radio, a non-profit he helped create, which also recently won a Slingshot award.

NATIONAL PJ TOUR

Rick Recht’s 150+ concert tour announcement came back in October 2011. As a celebrity spokesperson for PJ Library, Recht committed to performing songs from his newest PJ Library children’s album, Look at Me, and other selections.

On Monday, Dec. 19, the first of that series of concerts was performed in St. Louis. At the Jewish Community Center’s Staenberg Complex in the Carl & Helene Mirowitz Performing Arts Center, Recht gave a free musical performance before an audience of families and children.

Recht is also seeing a lot of success from his Jewish Rock Radio (JRR) efforts. The non-profit Jewish rock Internet radio station not only celebrated its first anniversary in recent months, but it also appears as No. 24 on the Slingshot 50 list for 2011-2012 (PDF). Being named to Slingshot’s list means JRR is recognized as one of the “most creative and effective organizations and leaders across the country.”

JRR is the flagship program of Judaism Alive, a nonprofit formed in 2009 with the goal of working to “strengthen Jewish identity and connection in Jewish youth and young adults by providing a mass communication channel utilizing the power of music to attract, inspire, entertain, and educate.”

JRR plays contemporary Jewish music from all around the U.S., Israel, and beyond. It also features celebrity interviews, youth talk programs, and other engaging Jewish programs. According Recht, as quoted by the St. Louis Jewish Light, JRR listeners clocked over 400,000 listening minutes in November 2011 alone.
