News and feature stories about new and expanding PJ Library communities and Jewish engagement efforts appeared in both secular and Jewish publications. Here is a look at some of the
recent press and media coverage afforded the PJ Library program by talented writers and journalists in the secular press.
PORTLAND PROFILEThe
PJ Library program in Portland, OR was spotlighted by Oregon’s premiere newspaper,
The Oregonian in September.
Writer Nancy Haught tells the story of Jonathan and Daniel Williams, two PJ Library subscribers benefitting from the award-winning literature arriving at their home each month. The story hit the presses just in time for Rosh Hashanah.
NEW YORK NEWSPJ Library is growing quickly in the Five Towns region of New York, thanks to PJ Library communities through the
Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Centre,
Congregation Sons of Israel, and
Five Towns JCC. The news was picked up at the end of September by
Five Towns Patch reporter Allison Howe.
AUSTIN ARTICLEWriter Johsunda Sanders told
American-Statesman readers in September that it was no longer necessary to hunt through Barnes & Noble for hours at a time in search of Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur books.
“If there are holidays coming up, the books that arrive at the homes of Jewish families reflect the theme of the holidays,” he writes.
Indeed, Sanders’s story of the Halpern family went goes a long way in describing the benefits of the PJ Library program to Jewish Austin, TX residents.
