Students from five different elementary schools received books Monday from volunteers in Las Vegas for TribeFest.

TribeFest is being hosted by the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas. It is a national leadership conference with 1,500 young adults from 81 communities around the country. A service day for the conference was Monday. They gathered books and delivered them to kids at Paradise, Crestwood, Park, Lake and Peterson Elementary Schools.

More than 1,000 volunteers delivered bags filled with books to the kids. The children will take the bags home to start their own home libraries. The organizers say giving back to the community is an important part of the leadership skills they're trying to instill.

Nearly 3,000 books were provided by PJ Library a nonprofit which gives free books to nearly 100,000 children around the country every month. The participants in the conference donated another 1,000 books.
