Jewish Camps for Family Fun

PJ LIBRARY AND HGF have long been fervent supporters of Jewish overnight camps for children (READ: “Why (Jewish) Summer Camp?”), but we also encourage families to explore Jewish camp together as a family. After all, why should children have all the fun?!

There are many Jewish family camps across North America. These family vacation experiences are chock-full of bonding opportunities, child-friendly activities, and endless fun ways of meeting families -- all at a reasonable price.

WHY JEWISH FAMILY CAMP?Jewish Camps for Family Fun
Family camp offers all the benefits of togetherness and structured activity with the added bonus of beauty in nature and the outdoors. Families can free themselves from the hum-drum of everyday tasks (i.e. three cooked and prepared meals each day) to instead relax as children are supervised and engaged in camp adventures with new friends.

By choosing a Jewish family camp, families can also rekindle the Jewish spirit, as they enjoy songs, stories, and rituals -- all alongside new Jewish family friends.

PJ LIBRARY FAMILY CAMP
An appreciation for family reading and Jewish children's literature has led several communities to fuse the benefits of Jewish family camp together with the PJ Library program. The resulting initiative, PJ Library Family Camp, offers a focus on families with young children, StoryWalks, and activities surrounding PJ Library favorites.

Two PJ Library communities, Los Angeles and Atlanta, will be offering PJ Library Family Camp for the second year running. These fun weekend programs are full of all things PJ Library: everything from playtime in Sammy Spider’s “Web” to PJ Library goodie bags.

One L.A. family writes:
“PJ Library Family Camp was a great weekend. We really enjoyed spending time together as a family. I loved being out at camp with my kids and friends and getting to know new people. I loved feeling a sense of Jewish community and feeling like I was back at sleep away camp.”
