A ‘Better-Than-Best’ Hamantashen Song for Purim

The Better-Than-Best PurimHAMANTASHEN COOKIES are triangular treats that are traditional to the Jewish holiday of Purim. Your family can prepare for Purim by trying one of many hamantashen recipes.

In February, going to PJ Library families enrolled in the Challah Toast (3 to 4 Years) Age Group is the Purim-related PJ Library selection, The Better-Than-Best Purim, written and illustrated by Naomi Howland.

In this story, it will soon be Purim, time for a little old lady to bake her better-than-best hamantashen. Her pets are all too busy to help her with the baking, but chances are they’ll have time to taste the results of her work. Sound familiar?

In the video below, PJ Goes to School program director Lisa Litman takes inspiration from The Better-Than-Best Purim. She introduces parents, teachers and children to a fun and interactive song about baking hamantashen that is just perfect for the Purim holiday.
