PJ Library Book Selections Lauded

The Rooster Prince of BreslovIn addition to the honors bestowed upon PJ Library founder Harold Grinspoon by the Jewish Book Council earlier this month, a number of children's book authors and illustrators were also shown appreciation. Among the 60th National Jewish Book Awards honorees were PJ Library selection authors and illustrators in the Falafel (6-7) and Gefilte Fish (7-8) age groups.

Children’s Books Recognized

The winner of the Louis Posner Memorial Award for illustrated children's book was The Rooster Prince of Breslov, written by Ann Redisch Stampler and illustrated by Eugene Yelchin (published by Clarion Books/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). The Rooster Prince of Breslov is a PJ Library book in the Gefilte Fish 7 to 8-years age group.

Finalists for the Louis Posner Memorial Award were Modeh Ani: A Good Morning Book adapted by Sarah Gershman and illustrated by Kristina Swarner (published by EKS Publishing) and Feivel's Flying Horses written by Heidi Smith Hyde and illustrated by Johanna van der Sterre (published by Kar-Ben Publishing). Feivel's Flying Horses is a PJ selection in the Falafel 6 to 7-years group.

A Moment with Aubrey Davis

Among the many distinguished guests at the 2010 National Jewish Book Awards was Aubrey Davis, author of Bagels for Benny, a PJ Library selection in the Egg Matza 5 to 6-years age group.
