Kol Nidrei - How We Open Yom Kippur

When families go to synagogue on the evening of Yom Kippur, everyone begins by standing.

We open the ark and take out the Torah scrolls. We sing a powerful melody called Kol Nidrei (All Our Vows) and ask to be forgiven for mistakes we’ve made in the past year. 

 

At home, your family may want to enter the spirit of Yom Kippur with music or prayers, with stories or quiet conversation. You can pick a PJ Library or PJ Our Way book you like.
